The primary biological function of bacterial DNA topoisomerase IV (the ParC-parE complex) enzymes is DNA decatenation. Bacterial Topo IV enzymes also have DNA relaxation and ATPase activities. Some inhibitors such as ciprofloxacin cause DNA damage by DNA cleavage (topoisomerase poisons). ProFoldin offers all the assays for various biological functions of DNA topoisomerase IV enzymes and the DNA cleavage assay of topoisomerase poison inhibitors. The DNA decatenation assays are carried out in a simple spin-column format or a high throughput 96-well plate format. For gel-based assay, please click here.
